Kashiwa Reysol
Belgium Tour
Tour Overview
Kashiwa Reysol U12, playing in the J1 league in Japan, travelled all the way to Belgium to participate in the Kingslize Future Stars U12 tournament at the youth academy of KV Mechelen. This trip was organized by Orange Veins.
On August 21st the team of Kashiwa arrived at Zaventem Airport in Brussels, from there they got on the bus to their hotel in Antwerp. After everyone checked-in it was time for a light training session, at the training field near the hotel, to loosen up the legs after the long journey. Back at the hotel dinner was served and everyone went to bed early.
The next morning the first of two friendly matches was on the program, the match was against Zulte Waregem, and was won by Kashiwa 8-1. Once the team was back at the hotel, they had lunch and got on the bus to the center of Antwerp. They had the whole afternoon to discover all the beauty Antwerp has to offer. Around 7:30PM Kashiwa was back at the hotel and got to catch up with the other Japanese team, FC Toreros Tokyo.
After some free time on Friday morning, it was time for the second friendly game that afternoon. Belgian first-class club KV Beerschot was the opponent, and again Kashiwa won the game 4-1. That evening they had dinner, and everyone went to bed early, because the next day the Kingslize future stars Mechelen tournament would start.
Saturday was the first day of the Kingslize Future Stars Mechelen U12 tournament. After a good breakfast at the hotel Kashiwa got on the bus to the training complex of KV Mechelen. In the group phase the team faced Roda JC, IF Gnistan, KV Mechelen 1 and Sint Truiden VV, Kashiwa finished second, a great achievement.
August 24th marked the last day of the tournament, and two more matches awaited Kashiwa. The first match was against KV Mechelen 2, an exciting match that was won 2-0. This meant Kashiwa would compete against NAC Breda for the 5th and 6th place. After 40 minutes of intense football the game was won by Kashiwa, 3-1, so they took home the 5th place trophy. That wasn’t the only trophy that went home with the team, because Kashiwa was also won the fair play award, for the kind and nice behavior they had shown during the tournament.
