Cardiff City FC Triumph at the Heston International Cup U16!

The past weekend the Heston International Cup U16 tournament took place at Queens Park Rangers Academy in London. 8 teams from Canada, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and the UK competed against each other for the cup.

In the group phase of the tournament some exciting football was shown. In group B the match between Excelsior Rotterdam and Cardiff City FC ended in a 3-3 draw. In the end it was Supra Academy who ended on top in group A and Millwall FC became first in group B.

After 19 games, al lot of good football and some amazing individual results, the final was played on Sunday afternoon between Millwall FC and Cardiff City FC. It was Adrianno Morrison who opened the score for Millwall, 1-0. Up until the last five minutes Millwall FC was still in the lead, when suddenly Ellis Yorke scored for Cardiff City FC, 1-1. Neither of the teams were able to score again, so penalties had to be taken. After a thrilling series of penalties Cardiff City FC won and took home the win.

Not only the win was taken by Cardiff City FC, one of their players, Robert Tankiewicz, was named most valuable player of the tournament. With only 1 goal conceded the best goalkeeper of this tournament came from Canada, Lucas Krezanski, playing for Supra Academy. And for the second year in a row the top scorer award went to Seb Campbell, from Plymouth Argyle FC.
