The only club from Miami that plays football on the highest national level is Inter Miami CF. This club was founded in 2018 and participated in the MLS for the first time in 2020.
One of the co-founders of this brand new club is former football legend David Beckham. Throughout his football career, Beckham played for big clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid. He knows the development potential within the Major League Soccer like no other, as he played for LA Galaxy during the last years of his pro career.
A few legends of the game who have played for Inter Miami CF are Gonzalo Higuain, Blaise Matuidi, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.
Besides the MLS club Inter Miami, this city in the state of Florida has several other professional football clubs. For example Miami FC. This club plays in the USL Championship, the second tier of the American football system. Miami FC play their home games at the campus of the Florida International University.
