Football in Vancouver

The football competition in Canada is combined with that of the United States in the Major League Soccer. In this division, the Canadian city of Vancouver is represented by Vancouver Whitecaps.

The MLS has 26 clubs in total, of which 23 are from the USA and 3 are from Canada. Being one of only three Canadian clubs in the MLS, certainly makes Vancouver Whitecaps worthy of notice. One of the biggest players the club ever produced is Alphonso Davies, currently playing for FC Bayern München.

Although Vancouver only has one MLS club, there are a lot of youth academies and private soccer schools to be found. Several of them compete in the British Columbia Academies Super League.

This is a football competition for boys and girls from age U9 and upwards. The league started in 2017 as a collaboration between private football academies from across the province of British Colombia. The pilot season was a big success and the league has since expanded both the length of their season and the number of participating clubs.
