Teddy West Signs Contract for Newcastle United FC at 11 years old
Teddy West’s remarkable journey in football has led him to an amazing transfer to his dream club. Born in London but raised in the Cayman Islands, Teddy’s love for the beautiful game was ignited at a young age. He began playing football with Total Soccer Cayman (TSC) when he was just 5 years old, under the mentorship of his coach and TSC’s Academy director, Peter Reijn and his coach Matthias Mijnheer.
His admiration for Newcastle United FC and the Brazilian midfielder, Bruno Guimarães, served as his inspiration. In 2022, Teddy travelled to the Netherlands, representing TSC during a trip organized by Orange Veins, the Tournament and Travel Partner of TSC. This adventure included friendly matches and participation in the Rood-Wit U10 Tournament. Teddy was already displaying his talent on an international stage as one of the youngsters of the team. In October 2022 Teddy and his family moved to North Yorkshire, England and Teddy started playing for Rutherford AFC in Gateshead.
In April 2023, Teddy made his way to the United Kingdom for another European expedition with Orange Veins. During this tour, he competed against English Premier League academies, further showcasing his abilities. The following summer, Teddy returned to the Rood-Wit U10 Tournament, now as one of the experienced players on the TSC team. His incredible progress was evident as he scored goals against renowned clubs like Manchester City, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, and Feyenoord.
In the UK Teddy’s talent on the pitch didn’t go unnoticed, as he was scouted by Newcastle United FC. After successfully navigating their trials, on October 31, 2023, at the age of 11, Teddy West signed his first contract with Newcastle United FC.
This achievement is a testament to Teddy’s skill, determination and great mindset.
